We're Okay

I had a whole cute, funny "breaking the rules with Daddy" post scheduled for today, but we had a rough evening last night and I didn't have a chance to put it all together.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or are friends with Mommy on Facebook know that on top of a challenging few weeks, yesterday was yet another difficult day.

This week was audition week at Mommy's school and, between her schedule and Daddy's CRAZYBUSY commitments, I came with her every day. Casting is by far Mommy's least favorite part of putting together the show, as inevitably there are hurt feelings, and after a week of limited napping and running around, I was super-tired. Thankfully, I kept a cheerful attitude all week and the tantrums were limited, but I also went into 0ver-tired-hyper-crazy toddler mode on more than a few occasions. We were all looking forward to last night as a rest after a busy week...

Mommy, however, woke up yesterday morning feeling really dizzy and just generally icky. She actually woke from sleep feeling like she was about to fall out of bed - and that was when she was lying down! She checked her blood sugar, and that was okay, and drank some water, but still spent most of morning feeling vaguely seasick.

By the time we had to head to school, she was feeling a little bit better, and off we went. We visited the school nurse before auditions, who checked Mommy's blood pressure and found it to be pretty high {149/98 - which is SUPERhigh for Mommy}. As auditions continued, she began to feel worse again, and after consulting with a few medically-knowledgable friends, she decided to call the practitioner on call, who advised her to come in just to be checked out.

Long story short(ish), Grammy Boo took Mommy to the hospital, where she was put on fetal and blood pressure monitors. Squishy had a strong steady heart rate and immediately set to work kicking those pesky monitors off. Mommy's blood pressure was still relatively high at that point, but it stabilized within about an hour, at which point Mommy started to feel better and not-a-little-bit silly for running off to the hospital.

They did do lab work, though, which showed her platelets to still be on the low side, and given her history with preeclampsia and HELLP, etc, etc, the high blood pressure so early on was a bit troubling (it didn't hit with me until the very end) so Mommy's doctors will continue to keep a close eye on her.

Many thank yous and love to everyone who emailed and messaged and tweeted your concern. Today, we are home and resting and okay.

  5. Continuing to send lots and lots of good thoughts!!

Be a good boy, Cole, and keep cooperating for your Mommy. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure that less tantrums help her blood pressure!!
