7 Month Lulu Belle

First off, if you haven't seen the 30 second video of me swimming, you should totally check it out.  Also, the Best Photoshopped Picture Ever is in that post - it will probably make you smile. Or give you nightmares - one of the two!

I figure it's only fair to give Baby Lulu some video space here, too - so here's a 30 second video of HER swimming!

There's a video here - if you can't see it in your email feed, you can click through...

Made you look! Silly readers, Baby Lulu can't swim yet! She's only 7 months old!  She does really, really like the water, though - she'll be swimming for real in no time.

I cannot even believe Baby Lulu is 7 months old already - Mommy is going to have to start planning a first birthday party soon! {After this weekend's Dinosaur Tea Party extravaganza, that last sentence just made Daddy hyperventilate.  Don't worry, Daddy, first birthdays are very small - like my family-only pool party, remember?  If you non-Daddy readers are wondering why he is having heart palpitations, and want a sneak peek of my dino fete, you can check out my FB page, but rest assured there will be a full recap here later this week!}

Anyway. Baby Lulu. 7 months.

She can totally roll over all different directions, and is thisclose to crawling.  Mommy is totally not ready for mobility though and might knock her over when crawling occurs...  She has started to be able to sit independently which means we are s-l-o-w-l-y introducing solids.  So far she likes the *idea* of eating everything we are, but has really gotten much farther than drooling all over a hard pretzel.  And maybe a few licks of soft ice cream.

Mommy hit the first-midnight-pediatrician-call milestone this month, when Baby Lulu woke up with a fever of 104 a week ago.  Dr. Andy was very understanding of being paged at 1 AM, and claimed to have been awake anyway.  Baby Lulu went to see him the next morning (a Saturday!), and it turned out to be coxsackie virus - which Mommy caught, too.  Blech! Luckily, Baby Lulu is a champ and after a day or two of snuggling with her pink bunny, she recovered completely.

She's weighing in at nearly 17 pounds and wears 9 month clothes...  Her eyes aren't really blue anymore, but they're more green than brown and get her TONS of compliments!

Lets check in with BabyCenter and see what other 7 month olders are doing!  {Ohmigosh, I went to add in the link and discovered that the 7 month milestones are on a SECOND chart! I'm turning THREE is 11 days AND Baby Lulu is OFF the first chart already???  Please excuse Mommy, she'll just be rocking herself in the corner...)

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)
  • Sits without support - Yup.

  • Drags objects toward herself - She grabs all my toys if they're within arms reach!
Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)
  • Lunges forward or starts crawling - She lunges, but doesn't quite crawl yet.
  • Jabbers or combines syllables - All.  The.  Time.  Baby Lulu is SUPER talkative.

  •  Starts to experience stranger anxiety - To an extent - she's definitely not quite as easy for Mommy to hand off as she used to be.  Especially if she's tired or hungry. That being said. she spent ALL of my birthday party with Grammy Boo and Cousin Amy, so she's not nearly as super-glued to Mommy as *I* used to be.
Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)
  • Waves goodbye - Sometimes, but not consistently.
  • Stands while holding onto something - Yes - Mommy let her hold onto the coffee table sort of jokingly and was completely shocked that Lulu was able to stand there on her own!
  • Bangs objects together - Yup.

  • Begins to understand object permanence - Hmmm, Not sure about this one.
